Important Campus Dates
FAQs
Below you will find some additional information on each step of the order process. Even if you have already filled out your order information, we recommend logging back in to confirm everything as we’ve continued to make updates to our website!
1. Student Name
Please put your name and your permanent home address here. If you do not have a permanent home address, you may list your school address.
2. Storage Plans
Season
If you’re being picked up in the weeks to come and plan to be dropped off in the fall, choose Summer. If you’re going abroad or taking a leave of absence and want your items returned in January 2023, choose Summer & Fall.
Number of Boxes
Our average customer uses between 4-6 boxes. Feel free to request a few more than you need and we’ll grab any unused boxes at pick up. Find out what day we’re distributing boxes on your campus here.
Fragile Items
Estimate the number of items you’ll be storing that don’t fit into a box and will require bubble wrap or moving blankets to protect.
Box Delivery
If you’d prefer to have us deliver the boxes to your door rather than grabbing them at our truck on distribution day, you can check this box and we’ll bring your supplies to you on the evenings of our distribution days for a $50 fee.
Storing a Mattress?
If so, you’ll need to have a mattress bag ready to protect it. You can purchase one for $25 on our site on this step and we’ll give it to you with the rest of your boxes & bubble wrap.
3. Pick-Up Location
If you live on-campus, please select your Residence Hall from the drop-down then put your Dorm Room Number & Dorm Room Letter Below. If you select Off-Campus/Other, the site will alter to collect your off-campus address.
4. Pick-Up Date/Time
Calendar
Select from the calendar options to choose the date that works for you. Dates in green are complementary and dates in black incur an additional fee and require review and confirmation from our team.
Key Access
If Storage Scholars has a partnership at your school and you live on campus, you’ll see only a calendar asking you your departure date without needing a pick-up appointment. All you have to do is tell us when you’re leaving school, pack your items up, lock them in your room, and go home at your convenience. We’ll unlock those rooms and move everything into storage after the campus closes and we’ll also have it ready and waiting for you in your new room before you arrive back to school in the fall.
Pick-up Time/Specific Window
Let us know your preference between Morning (9 AM - 1 PM), or Afternoon (1 PM - 5 PM). We’ll send you an email leading up to your pick-up letting you know how many moves are ahead of you in your window! If you need a more specific time, you can request to be guaranteed the first or last hour of your respective pick-up. Our team will review the request and confirm if we can accommodate it for an additional fee via email.
5. Shipping
If you need items shipped, please confirm the address you’re looking to have us ship them home to as well as the date you want us to send them. The complimentary days for this will be following your campus's final pick-up days. Follow the instructions on the screen to label those boxes in a different colored sharpie under a different item count from things you’re storing.
6. Drop-Off Preview
If you know where you’re living next year, let us know here so we can better plan out our delivery schedule! If you don’t know yet, you can fill this out later after things are picked up and in storage.
7. Summer Session
If you are attending a Summer Session and require an additional drop-off and an additional pick-up during your storage term, please let us know by clicking Yes. We will ask where you are temporarily living for the summer, allow you to pick the date you want things dropped off, and then of course when you want us to pick it back up when your summer session is over. All dates during the summer incur a special dropoff fee as they fall outside our complimentary window. Please be sure to double-check the month on the calendar dates you are selecting to ensure accuracy before submitting!
8. Order Confirmation
Please review the details of your order this year and feel free to add comments at the bottom if you want our team to know anything specific on pick-up day about your order!
9. Packing Instructions
After you’ve picked up your boxes, tape, and packing supplies during box distribution day, you can find instructions on our website’s how to pack page. Improperly packed items can lead to damage during transit. Be sure to use lots of protective materials and label all out-of-box items super clearly with mutliple sticker labels as a backup in case one were to fall off. The better a job you do packing, the safer your belongings will be!
10. Item Images
Before sealing up your packed boxes, be sure to take a photo of each box, or out-of-box item (bicycle, mirror, printer, etc.) and upload each item photo individually on this step. You will declare the estimated value of the item and the contents and will have the option to purchase additional insurance as needed during the storage term. Failure to upload photos will result in a forfeiture of insurance coverage on your items.
